Virtual D&D for Beginners: February!
Dungeons and Dragons, or D&D, has never been more popular. This cooperative fantasy adventure storytelling game lets you be the hero in a story you create with friends! Your ticket gets you a seat at the table, a character sheet, and up to 3 hours of game play with a professional Game Master.
About the GM: Davey Oil (he/him) is a teacher, activist, bike shop owner, queer nerd, and father of two. He is committed to welcoming new players into tabletop role-playing. He works to build inclusive and anti-oppressive spaces for marginalized folks to gather and play games. As a GM, Davey Oil works in a style he calls “Rule of Cool School,” where the “Rule of Cool” reminds us to focus not on the rules and stats of the game, but on the fun we make together, exploring, adventuring and developing interesting characters — and the “School” reminds us that we are all on a learning journey, newbies and old pros alike!
Experience Level: All experience levels welcome!
Run Time: This game will run from 6:30-9:30pm PST on Google Meet.
How should I prepare for the game?: You will need a device with internet access and a microphone (headphones and video are recommended but optional), and a relatively quiet space. We’ll take care of the rest!
Content Notes About our Adventure: Dungeons & Dragons can involve combat and descriptions of violence, blood, gore or injury as well as suspense, mystery, traps and puzzles, political intrigue, or poverty. While D&D is a game that can be played at any age, our event is specifically for players 16 and older as we may deal with more mature themes. We want all our players to have a good time, so if at any time you find yourself getting uncomfortable with the story, you may ask the GM to adjust or stop a scene.
What happens after I buy a ticket?: Your GM will email you your character sheet and some basic game tips the day before the game, so you can get familiar with the rules that govern your special abilities. You’ll also receive the link to the game via email. So make sure you use a valid address when you check out!
By purchasing a ticket, you agree to abide by the following:
You pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation. Your GM will help guide you in fulfilling this pledge.
